Marae Visit

Room 6 had a fantastic visit to the marae on Thursday.  It was very special to be welcomed onto the marae and we really enjoyed learning some different skills while we were there.  We were able to have a go at flax weaving, poi, maori games, martial arts with the rakau, and we listened to some great stories!

  1. Hi Room 6, I am in your new library with a whole lot parents looking at your blog. You all look very engaged with your learning. When I was a child and visited a marae I was very nervous. I remember singing a song. What was your favourite part of the visit?

  2. Hi Room 6. I really enjoyed going with you all to the Marae. It was a great experience and very interesting to learn a little bit more about New Zealand's culture. One of my favourite parts of the day was flax weaving. I remembered what I had learnt and went home and made a big bouquet of flax flowers to sit on our bench. From Murphy's Mum, Emma
